Gerard P. Egan, Esquire
Gerard P. Egan ("Jerry") has practiced law for over forty years. Jerry is a lifelong resident of the Philadelphia area, having graduated from Villanova University, where he obtained both his undergraduate and law degrees. In 1974, Jerry worked as a Special Agent in the Criminal Investigation Division of the Internal Revenue Service. Thereafter, he served as a federal prosecutor in Washington, D.C.; Miami, Florida; and Philadelphia. During his time as a prosecutor, he concentrated on economic/white collar crimes as well as public corruption. Jerry was appointed by President Carter as the Mid-Atlantic Representative of the President's Economic Crime Enforcement Program.
In 1986, Jerry left the government to go into private practice. From 1986 through 1991, Jerry worked in criminal defense as well as civil practice, representing plaintiffs in a wide variety of different areas of the law. For the next twelve years, Jerry was a named partner in a top Philadelphia commercial litigation firm. During that span, Jerry represented a number of Fortune 500 companies in connection with their vital legal interests. Throughout his career, Jerry has tried numerous cases, both criminal and civil in nature, to successful conclusions for his clients.
In the early 1990's, then-Pennsylvania Governor Robert Casey appointed Jerry as an original member of the Pennsylvania Judicial Conduct Board, the authority tasked with the investigation into possible unethical conduct by members of the judiciary.
Subsequently, Jerry has continued to dedicate his practice to providing full-service litigation to clients both big and small, and continues to do so with his partner, Brian McCarthy, practicing in Philadelphia (state and federal), as well as the surrounding counties. Jerry has also tried numerous cases in New Jersey pro hac vice. Jerry lives in Chester County with his wife, Lois, and is the proud parent of three children and grandparent of five grandchildren.
